Need help? We're here for you.
If you have questions, feedback, or need help with Pravida, reach out:
We aim to respond within 48 hours. Remember that we cannot read your chats, so if a message is involved, describe it rather than expecting us to look it up.
No. Pravida generates a cryptographic identity on your device the first time it runs. That is the account: there is nothing to register, no phone number and no email. Set a display name under Settings › Profile so members know who you are.
Tap + and create a chat. Open its info screen (ⓘ) and choose Create Invite Link: share the link, or show the QR code to someone standing next to you. They tap the link, scan the code, or paste the link into Join. The invite expires on the schedule you pick, from one hour to 30 days.
Treat the link like a key. Anyone who holds it can join the chat until it expires, so hand it over in person or through a channel you trust, and pick a short expiry for anything you post.
With members nearby, yes. Devices on the same Wi‑Fi network, or within peer‑to‑peer Wi‑Fi range, exchange messages directly. The first time, iPhone and iPad ask for Local Network permission; allow it, or nearby messaging cannot see other devices. Members elsewhere are reached through iCloud, which needs the internet and an iCloud account signed in on the device. Pravida does not use Bluetooth, and a message does not hop through one device to reach another.
Yes. Every message, photo, file and voice note is encrypted on your device with AES‑256‑GCM before it goes anywhere. Keys are generated on the device and kept in its Keychain; Prava Labs runs no servers and holds no keys. The iCloud relay stores ciphertext plus the ids and timestamps it needs to deliver it, and never sees content. Read what leaves your device, and in what form.
Open a member from the chat's info screen. Their safety number is a fingerprint of your identity key and theirs, shown as numbers and as a QR code. Compare it in person, or over a call you trust, and tap Mark as Verified. If their identity key ever changes, Pravida alerts everyone in the chat and clears the badge until you have checked again. A changed key usually means a new device or a reinstall; ask them before you trust it.
Your device has not yet received that member's announcement, which carries what it needs to derive the key for their messages. It usually arrives within seconds once both devices are online or nearby, and the message decrypts on its own when it does. If it never arrives, both of you should open the chat while online, or while on the same Wi‑Fi.
No. Smart replies, the unread summary and translation run on Apple's on-device model, on iPhones, iPads and Macs with Apple Intelligence. Where the model is not available, including on Apple Watch, the features are absent rather than sent elsewhere. Settings › Intelligence turns them off with one switch.
Set a timer for a chat, from 5 seconds to a week. Messages you send after that are deleted on every member's device when the timer runs out. Delete for Everyone removes a message from every device now; Delete for Me removes it from yours only.
Settings › Security › App Lock on iPhone and iPad asks for Face ID, Touch ID or Optic ID before the app opens, and puts a cover over your chats in the app switcher. The Mac relies on its own login and lock screen.
The Watch shares your iPhone's identity, so members see one of you rather than two. Open Pravida on the iPhone once, with the Watch paired and both devices signed into the same iCloud account; the Watch picks up the identity within seconds. The Watch talks to iCloud only, so messages sent nearby over Wi‑Fi reach it once they have been relayed.
From the chat's info screen, Backup & Restore writes a file encrypted with the chat's own key: the chat's settings and member roster. Restore from File reads it on another device. Export Chat History writes an encrypted file of message metadata (ids, senders, times, status) with no message text. Your messages themselves live on your devices; there is no cloud copy to download.
Delete All Data, at the bottom of Settings, removes every chat, key and setting from that device. Members' devices keep the messages you already sent them, as with any messenger. Deleting the app does the same.
