Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 7, 2026

BoatNavi is built on a simple principle: where your boat is, is your business. Your position, your tracks, your marks and your boat's instrument data stay on your iPhone or iPad. There is no BoatNavi account, no BoatNavi server, no analytics and no advertising.

1. What We Don't Collect

BoatNavi does not collect, store, or transmit to us:

  • Your location, your recorded tracks, or your waypoints and marks
  • Your vessel profile (draft, margin, name, dimensions)
  • Readings from your boat's instruments (position, depth, engine, batteries, tanks, autopilot)
  • Anchor watch positions or alarms
  • Analytics or usage telemetry
  • Crash reports sent to any server of ours
  • Device identifiers, fingerprints, or advertising identifiers

2. Location

BoatNavi asks for your location to show how much water is under your keel where you are, and — when you arm the anchor watch — to keep watching your position with the screen off. Location is processed on the device and is never sent to Prava Labs. You can use the app without granting location; it then plans rather than tracks, and says so on screen.

3. Connections BoatNavi Makes

BoatNavi makes network connections only to:

  • Apple — to download the chart regions you choose (they are delivered by the App Store as Apple-hosted asset packs) and to update the app.
  • NOAA — for tide observations and model guidance (CO-OPS, SFBOFS) and the weather forecast (api.weather.gov). These requests carry the station or the forecast grid point, not your exact position, and the app works without them: prediction is used and labelled as such.
  • Your own boat — a Signal K server or NMEA 0183 gateway on the boat's Wi-Fi, if you add one. That traffic stays on the boat's network; what those servers do with it is governed by their own configuration.

BoatNavi never routes your data through Prava Labs servers.

4. Credentials for Your Boat's Server

If you sign in to your boat's Signal K server to use helm control, the sign-in token is stored in the device's Keychain and used only to authenticate to that server. We never see or receive it.

5. Notifications

The anchor watch asks permission to send notifications so an alarm reaches a locked phone. Notifications are generated on the device; no push service of ours is involved.

6. Third-Party Services

BoatNavi does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or tracking services. There are no SDKs, no beacons, no pixel tracking. Chart data comes from NOAA electronic navigational charts and waterfront places from OpenStreetMap, processed by us before they reach the app.

7. Purchase and Payment

App Store purchases, if any, are processed entirely by Apple; we do not receive or store any payment information.

8. Support Communications

If you contact us at [email protected], we receive only the information you choose to include in your email. We use it solely to respond and do not share it with any third party.

9. Children's Privacy

BoatNavi is a boating tool not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
